In Singapore, it seems like it’s every girl’s dream to get porcelain fair skin, akin to the likes of Park Shin Hye and Song Hye Kyo. Well, ladies, Neutrogena’s Fine Fairness Range is here to help you achieve your dream skin. Given that I have fair skin due to genetics, I wanted to see if this would make my skin fairer or help whiten my dreaded freckles. Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the Fine Fairness Range which I have been testing the entire month of August.
Fine Fairness Cleanser
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Cleanser ($12.90 SGD) is said to be a purifying cleanser with Vitamin C and Essential Soy extract that is clinically proven to help improve overall fairness and translucence. I love this cleanser. My skin doesn’t end up feeling tight and dry – which is a problem I face with most cleansers.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Toner ($17.90 SGD) is housed in a 150ml bottle. I’ll be straight up honest guys – I don’t use toners in my everyday routine. I’m probably breaking the 10 Commandments of Beauty but who cares! Toners and my skin do not get along well. They leave my skin dry. I did test this toner on my face a few times and I found that it has a light consistency and absorbed into the skin very quickly. Worth noting that the floral scent still lingers after the product has been absorbed.
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Gel Cream
Neutrogena Fine Fairness Gel Cream ($28.90 SGD) is a gel cream made with Phyto-lily extract which is scientifically proven to detect and lighten pigmentation and helps prevent future melanin production. On immediate application, my face does appear to be a little brighter but the moisturizer sinks into the skin almost immediately. I feel that this gel cream is not rich enough for my dry skin and within about 2-3 hours of application, my skin starts to feel dry. Definitely more suited for oily/normal skin types.
Fine Fairness Light Mask
The Fine Fairness Light Mask ($119.90 SGD) looks so complicated but it’s actually very easy to use! Put it on like a pair of sunglasses and turn it on by pushing the button of the activator. Unfortunately, I have light sensitivity which means I’ve intolerance of light such as sunlight and fluorescent light. My light sensitivity coupled with my extremely sensitive and thin skin left me deliberating for days if I should test out the mask. Eventually, as much as I wanted to use this mask, I did not. Nevertheless, here is how you would use the mask:
1) Remove all makeup and dry your face.
2) Slip on the mask and activate it by pressing the button on the Activator.
3) Relax for 10 minutes until the mask is turned off automatically.
The mask is made up of red light and infrared light. The visible red light inhibits environmentally-induced excess pigmentation, thus improving skin tone resulting in even, radiant results. On the other hand, the invisible infrared light is made up of longer, invisible wavelengths of light that permeate even deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, thereby increasing cell plumpness and luminosity.
According to Neutrogena, there is zero UVA/UVB rays emitted so you can be assured that it’s just safe red and infrared light. Here’s a photo of me wearing the mask… please excuse the oversized bathrobe and awkward hands. I was busy that day so to be honest, ain’t nobody has time to take 100 pictures before finally getting the “perfect shot”.
Overall: I think Neutrogena has nailed the head with a range of whitening products that are not too expensive and caters to the everyday women needs. Although the Fine Fairness Light Mask is pricey, it is a gadget after all. You get what you pay for. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
The Neutrogena Fine Fairness Light Mask will be available exclusively online at $119.90 SGD (includes one Mask and a 30 session Activator) from August 2017 onwards at Guardian.com.sg, Lazada.sg, Qoo10.sg, Redmart.com, and Watsons.com.sg.
