Today’s post is something different. It’s not about makeup. 😛 Instead, it’s dedicated to the reopening of Kate Spade at Raffles City. I’m not a fashion blogger by any means but I love love love Kate Spade so much so that I wanted to dedicate an entire blog post to it. I have always been attracted by the brand because of their girly and whimsical feel as well as their vibrant prints. I own their wallets and bags, both of which have lasted me a very long time. I don’t mind spending a little more on a bag that would last me years, compared to one that would last for just a few months. So it’s no surprise when Andrea Chong invited her readers to the reopening of the newly renovated Kate Spade Raffles City store, I jumped at the chance to attend it! Besides, Andrea will be hosting the event! #fangirl 😀

Now, let’s take a tour of the store!

Ending off this blog post with a photo with Andrea and Jane. 🙂 Jane and I had so much fun talking to her. If I look tired/sick, it is because I was nursing a flu and nasty cough. 🙁 Hope y’all enjoyed this blog post, something different for a change! 😀

Thank you Kate Spade and Andrea Chong for hosting the event! I had a wonderful time. This post is not sponsored or endorsed in any way.

Tom Ford Lips & Boys Pablo review

Hi everyone! I took a little break in January but now I’m back! Expect more reviews on the blog and photos on Instagram (@mybeautymusings) in the coming months! 😀 Now on to the review! As a beauty junkie, I always want to try the most hyped up products, and Tom Ford lipsticks were no exception. With everyone in the beauty community singing praises about the lipsticks, I bit the bullet and bought myself one.

Tom Ford Pablo lipstick review and swatches

If you are not familiar with the Tom Ford makeup line, the lipsticks are said to be the “Hermès” of lipsticks. The best of the best. The colour I bought was Pablo ($50 SGD) from the Lips & Boys Collection. The Lips & Boys Collection features a range of limited-edition clutch-sized lip colors (aka mini lipsticks) named after the characters in Tom Ford’s life. Lipsticks in this Lips & Boys collection contains a mere 0.07 oz compared to the usual full size range which contains 0.1 oz. Nevertheless, it’s a great way to try the lipsticks. 🙂

I spent close to 30 minutes at the Tom Ford counter swatching while looking at online swatches and finally settled on Pablo. Pablo is a pink shade with purple undertones. I wanted a colour that was unique and Pablo was the right fit. It was very difficult to dupe Pablo, the closest lipstick I have in my stash would be Bite Beauty’s Violet. Pablo is definitely not an everyday kind of lip colour and it just shouts “BAM LOOK AT MY LIPS”.

Tom Ford Pablo swatched

So what’s the verdict? I LOVE IT. It is every bit as good as I had expected it to be. Moisturizing, great pigmentation, very creamy and leaves a beautiful sheen on my lips. It is also fragrance-free. 🙂 It doesn’t dry my lips out like some lipsticks which is a big plus in my book. The texture reminds me of Guerlain’s Rouge G lipsticks, one of my favourite lipstick formulas.

Here is Pablo swatched on bare lips:
Tom Ford Pablo review

This is my first attempt at taking lip swatches so please pardon me! I start off by applying Pablo with a lip brush and slowly building it up. In the above photo, my lips look dry and you can see the fine lines. This is not caused by the lipstick! I have insanely dry lips that are also flaky at times. 🙁 The lipstick lasted about several hours before fading, leaving a slight stain behind. The lasting power is about the same as an average MAC lipstick, it wasn’t something super long-lasting so I had to reapply after meals. A part of me was hoping that this would be a lipstick that would last 8 hours straight. LOL.

Overall, Tom Ford lives up to the name and I was not disappointed. If you are willing to splurge on lipsticks, go for it! With 50 lipsticks in the Lip & Boys collection, I’m sure you’ll find a colour that suits you. The question is, how many will you be bringing home? 😉 If, however, there’s a shade in the full size range that you really like, I suggest going for that instead as in my opinion, the full sizes are more worth it.

Next up on my wishlist, Louboutin lipsticks. Someday, yeah? Someday.

Givenchy Live Irresistible perfume review

As I type this blog post, the weather outside is pouring and the skies are gray and gloomy. But a whiff of the Givenchy Live Irresistible perfume evokes a mood – one that will have you letting down your hair and running freely through the meadows, unstoppable and fearless.

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Parfum review

Product description

Make every day irresistible with Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Parfum, a tempting fragrance for a happy woman.

Today’s a good day to start an irresistible life – you only live once, so make every moment count! Live Irresistible is a fragrant ode to those who throw caution to the wind and take every chance that comes their way. The uplifting juice is a reminder to always be your best self, and make every moment a happy one.

What a beautiful message. I always believe that we should just carpe diem. As Taylor Swift says, haters gonna hate so why waste precious time dwelling on unhappy things or feeling insecure? This year, let us constantly remind ourselves to be comfortable with our own skin, living life authentically and developing genuine relationships. I don’t want to be 80 years old and regretting the things I never did or the words I didn’t say.

This 40ml (1.4 oz.) perfume has a floral-fruity scent. There is a refreshing burst of pineapple before setting into subtle notes of roses, Jamaican allspice berries and softly leaving behind a musky base of amber. Indeed it’s a unique combination but one that certainly works. The top note which is pineapple will only last 15-30 minutes while the body of the fragrance will last the entire day. The next time you are perfume shopping, spray the fragrance on your wrist and continue the rest of your shopping trip. If you still enjoy the scent a couple of hours later, then you know it’s the right fragrance for you. 🙂 I’m personally not a fan of amber or any musky scent so I’d not consider this as one of my favourites. But I can see how this would work for those who prefer slightly more mature scents. Some of my favourite fragrances include, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, Roses De Chloé, Versace Bright Crystal, and you probably can tell that I adore sweet fruity scents. 😉

Givenchy Live Irrésistible Eau de Parfum

For me, the best part about this perfume would be the lasting power and the beautifully designed bottle. The fragrance lasts all day though it does fade after a while. As for the packaging, I fell in love with it instantly. The perfume is encapsulated in a tall bottle lined with the iconic Givenchy fashion studs all around. The bottle is stunning and looks so pretty on my dresser. The gorgeous Amanda Seyfried is the face of this perfume and after a quick search on Youtube, I found the video featuring Amanda for this campaign. The scene with the Eiffel Tower glittering in the distance? Mesmerizing, simply mesmerizing.

Overall, Givenchy’s Live Irresistible perfume has a strong message behind it. To empower women to be the versions of ourselves each and every day. Those who are fans of floral scents will be sure to love this nicely crafted scent. In addition, it has richness that will appeal to many.

I was kindly gifted Live Irresistible so as I write this, the perfume may no longer be available as it is limited edition for Summer 2015. Nevertheless, it’s worth checking if your local Sephora still has stocks of it. Today is a good day to start an irresistible life, let’s make the most of every minute.

Happy Leap Day aka February 29! 😀 I posted my Face Of The Day (FOTD) on Instagram today and decided I would post the full list of products on the blog! 😀 For eyeshadow I used all the shades in the Integrate palette as well as “Bust” and “Guilt” from the Urban Decay palette to create a plummy pink eye look. The Tarte primer doesn’t completely conceal the redness on my face so I topped it off with the Maracuja Creaseless concealer which is ah-maazing. The only downside with the concealer would be the huge opening. I always tend to squeeze out more product than needed. Boo.

I also tested out the Lancome L’Absolu Velour for the first time and it’s everything I wanted and more. Full review coming soon! The rest of the makeup used are my usual favourites. High Beam is undoubtedly one of the best liquid highlighters for fair skin in my opinion. I just dot it on my cheekbones and blend it out with the micro beauty blender. The end result? A beautiful lit-from-within glow. 😀

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream review

kate somerville goat milk cream

I have been on a hunt for a good daily moisturizer for my sensitive and dry skin. So when I discovered the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream ($63 SGD) that is meant for dry sensitive skin, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. This was my first product from Kate Somerville after hearing much hype about the brand. According to KateSomerville.com, there are so many reasons why the most photographed faces in Hollywood trust their skin to Kate. All products are clinically tested and proven at the Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts Clinic. Additionally, the products are made out of the finest ingredients and manufactured in USA. Before I get into the review, please pardon the bad lighting in the photographs below. The weather was gloomy and there was barely enough sunlight to take good photos. 🙁

Product Description

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream (1.7 oz.) calms and rejuvenates sensitive, dry, and combination skin, absorbing quickly with no oily residue left behind. It offers optimum moisture, balance, and overall well-being for a naturally healthy complexion.

Ingredients

-Lactic Acid (found naturally in milk): Exfoliates while preserving the skin’s delicate pH levels.
-Rich Jojoba and Avocado: Hydrate and condition to create unparalleled smoothness.
-Aloe: Naturally soothing and calms skin.
-Grape Seed Extract: Natural antioxidant; neutralizes free radicals.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Goat Milk, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Emulsifying Wax NF, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Salix Nigra (Willow) bark Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Mannan, Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid.

First off, this cream has a light scent, which actually reminds me of milk. It’s not too overpowering and compared to other brands with stronger fragrances (Biotherm, Shiseido) I would consider the scent to be very mild. The product easily absorbs into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue. I love how Kate uses high quality ingredients in her products and does not test on animals! It’s always a bonus when I find out that the product I use is not tested on animals. The main ingredients consist of lactic acid (goat milk), rich jojoba and avocado, grape seed extract and aloe which are very nourishing and hydrating. Immediately after applying the cream, my skin felt soft and supple. It works well on my sensitive skin and does not irritate it.

I used this as a day cream for the past 3 weeks but sadly this cream was insufficient for my dry skin. Do note that I live in an extremely hot and humid country that is approximately 87ºF all year round. Yet, four hours after application, some areas of my skin felt dry (particularly my cheeks) and I felt the need to apply more moisturizer. That is a slight disappointment as I would expect this cream to keep my skin deeply moisturised for the entire day. For this reason, I would not be repurchasing this. Other than that, the goat milk cream is provides a nice base for my makeup and I’m able to apply foundation smoothly.

kate somerville goat milk cream

I must sing praises for the innovative packaging. Just press down on the surface of the jar and it will dispense the right amount of product. Be careful not to press down too hard or else the cream will go flying everywhere. This method ensures that the ingredients stay fresh and no bacteria can enter the jar. Thumbs up!

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream
Overall, this is a good moisturizer for those with normal to dry skin. If you have sensitive skin or rosacea, this would not further aggravate the skin and instead help to calm the skin. 🙂 However, if you have insanely dry skin like mine, you are probably better off with a thicker cream like the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.

Have you tried anything from Kate Somerville? Please share in the comments!

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream is now available at Sephora Singapore, Mecca and Nordstrom.

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil in 032 Splash Corail

With BB cushions taking the world by storm, I’m not surprised to see more brands coming out with cushion blushes! Lancome recently launched the Cushion Blush Subtil ($55 SGD) in Singapore and I decided to give it a try! After swatching all the shades at the counter, I finally decided on 032 Splash Corail which is the lightest shade in the entire range. There are a total of 7 shades (2 limited edition) to choose from. Yay! This is my first time seeing such a wide shade range for cushion blushes.

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil Spring 2016

Oooh say hello to my reflection.

Product Description

The lively touch of color to your rosy glow.

Lancôme’s new blush in a cushion with intense pigments.
Brighten your complexion with the perfect touch of rosy Blush. Fully embrace your whitening look and play with your skin tone.

BLUSH SUBTIL CUSHION is smoothing, adjustable and bright! Play and experiment with the innovative texture and colors. Shape the apples of your cheeks. Add just a Hint Of Color to the top of your cheekbone. Play Mix & Match cheeks & lips.

These cushion blushes are made in Korea, which surprised me at first, seeing that Lancome is a French brand. But hey, the Koreans are the expert in all things cushion so they know what they’re doing.

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil Spring 2016

As with all cushion products, the cushion surface is protected by a sticker when you first open it.

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil 2016

032 Splash Corail is a light coral shade that gave my cheeks a nice, healthy glow. The packaging makes it very easy to apply. Just gently press the puff into the compact, tap it onto the apples of your cheeks and blend out. This shade was really flattering on my fair skin and I only needed to use a small amount of product as it was very pigmented. It leaves a glowy dewy finish on the cheeks which I loveeeeeee.

 Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil

Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil

Lighting in a tricky thing. Blush looks peachy here but in real life it’s more peachy pink. Also, I think due to the slight translucency of the blush, it may look different applied on the skin and on different skintones. It’s best to try the blush on your cheeks before purchasing. 🙂

The staying power is easily the best thing about this blush. Usually cream/liquid powders do not last as long as powder products, but this blush lasted an entire day (8 hours) despite me sweating in the uncomfortable Singapore heat. Perhaps those with oilier skintypes may want to apply a light dusting of transparent powder over the blush to set it. For me, I do that as well but sometimes I just skip setting it altogether!

Most people love cushions as it’s so convenient to touch-up on the go. For me, I hardly ever touch up my blush because I’m lazy but I can see how this packaging will be super handy for touch-ups. 😀

Is it worth the hefty price tag? Honestly, I love it but I probably won’t purchase other colours simply because $55 is a lot to spend on a blush (that has a short life span compared to powder blush). However, I highly recommend it if you’re looking to splurge on a blush. Trust me, you will not be disappointed by it!

What do you think about the new Lancome Cushion Blush Subtil or cushion blushes in general? Yay or nay?

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion review

Today I’ll be reviewing the Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion ($68 SGD). The product contains 50ml (1.7 o.z) and it’s paraben-free, silicon-free, and non-comedogenic.

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion review

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion review

Product description

The Nuxe White Brightening Moisturising Emulsion is a light and silky emulsion to target the appearnce of dark spots and enhance skin transparency.

It contains White Crocus, Stargazer Lily with Vitamin C to reduce apperance of dark spots and the Porcelain Rose to improve the skin complexion with a radiant effect. Its matte finish from the Rice Powder makes it a great make-up base.

The first thing I noticed about this emulsion was the strong fragrance. I don’t mind my skincare having fragrance in them but this emulsion had a floral scent that was very overpowering. It was good thing that the emulsion absorbed into the skin quickly, however the scent still lingered on my face. I’m usually ok with fragrances but sad to say this fragrance was just too much for me. But being a dedicated beauty blogger, I decided to press on and continue using the product.

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion

As seen in the above image, the ingredients work together to reduce melanocyte activation, thereby reducing melanin on the skin. To help you understand the image better, here’s a quick biology lesson.

Melanin forms in specialised cells called melanocytes. Melanocytes are especially abundant in the basal layer of the epidermis and underlying dermis and are responsible for the pigmentation of the skin. The melanocytes, by increasing the production of intracellular nitric oxide (NO), they trigger signal transduction cascades to initiate melanogenesis through a series of oxidative reactions involving the amino acid tyrosine in the presence of the enzyme tyrosinase. This leads to the production of melanin.

Or to put in layman terms: Melanocytes make a pigment or colouring for the skin. The pigment helps to protect the body from the ultraviolet light of the sun. People who originally come from hotter climates with more sunshine tend to have naturally darker skins. They do not have more of the melanocyte cells than paler races. But their melanocytes are more active and make more of the pigment. Exposing your skin to the sun makes the melanocytes make more pigment. The pigment is then transferred to the other skin cells to protect them against the sun’s rays. source

mybeautymusings

Me without makeup (except for brows drawn and tinted lip balm)

My skintype: I have very dry skin and only a slight oiliness around my nose. In addition, my skin is quite sensitive and has natural redness. 🙁

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion

I used this emulsion as a moisturizer for both day and night for 2 weeks. For skincare, it’d take weeks before any results of whitening appear. I am naturally fair (NC05-10 in MAC, Nars Siberia) so I cannot say I saw visible whitening in my skin. However, upon immediate application, my skin appeared to be more radiant instead of the usual dull looking skin.

I have freckles on my cheeks and dark circles around my eyes. And yes, you can see tiny capillaries on my face. Thankfully they are not too obvious. 🙂 I don’t really have many dark spots or obvious pigmentation but I do like how this emulsion helps to brighten my overall complexion.

I found this emulsion to be lightweight which is great as it doesn’t make my skin oily. 😀 While the light texture does not cause breakouts, it can also be a downside for extremely dry skintypes like mine. I still feel the need to put another moisturizer over top, especially if I’m in an air conditioned room. I’m happy to say that it was easy to blend my foundation on top of this and it lived up to it’s claims as being a good makeup base.

As I would always advise my friends, truly the best way to avoid getting spots and pigmentation would be to avoid the sun from 10am-5pm and always apply sunscreen. Also, please do not rely on your makeup for SPF. It is insufficient! I make sure I use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 under my makeup. 🙂 The Nuxe white range has a sunscreen called the Nuxe White Daily UV Protector SPF30 PA+++ which is worth checking out. The texture is very much akin to the Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50 PA++++.

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion review
Overall, the Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion is perfect for all skintypes. For $68 for 50ml, the price is not too bad considering other whitening products from other brands can go up to $100. Now, in terms of whitening, I didn’t notice a huge difference but I believe with prolonged use, together with sunscreen, you’ll get less spots than before. After all, prevention is better than cure. But before you purchase this, do give it a whiff as some may find the fragrance too strong.

Nuxe White Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion is now available at Guardian, Robinsons and wherever Nuxe is sold.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick review

$

I was browsing Sephora the other day when I chanced upon the new Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipsticks ($46 SGD). I was completely over the moon because Guerlain is my favourite brand for lipsticks. Yes, I even like it more than Tom Ford!

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick cheery cape

Product description

Guerlain creates an absolutely essential and utterly irresistible La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick in deliciously shiny texture to dress up your style with colour!
Vibrant shades in an innovative texture:
– a light-weight texture reveals the lips’ natural radiance, leaving them supple and comfortable
– buildable coverage thanks to its thin film: one layer to offer a glimpse of the sensual texture of the lips, several for a more dense and sophisticated finish
– inspired by La Petite Robe Noire, the formula is deliciously perfumed and delicately flavoured for an unforgettable taste on your lips
– an ultra-shiny finish and pure & luminous colours thanks to a cocktail of fine oils and a selection of “POP” pigments coated in a specific shine-boosting resin.

I picked up the shade Cherry Cape 067 and received a sample of Red Heels 003 and Pink Tie 002. 🙂

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipsticks swatches review
Red Heels 003 is a red-orange shade with warm undertones.
Pink Tie 002 is a bright, medium pink with cool undertones.
Cherry Cape 067 is a berry pink shade with cool undertones.

The formula is divine. I tried it on in the store and it felt so comfortable on my lips. I was blown away. The lipstick felt very smooth and silky, giving a lovely shine to the lips. What more, my lips feel hydrated and super soft. The Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipsticks range from light baby pinks to corals to plums to bold reds. I felt that the lighter colours are more sheer while darker colours are more pigmented. That being said, the darker colours leave a beautiful stain behind. Out of the three, my favourite would be Cherry Cape, which had rich color payoff and looked amazing on my fair skintone. As it’s a moisturising lipsticks, this lipstick doesn’t last the through a couple hours, hence, requires you to do touch ups. They have a lovely sweet scent which reminds me of candy and I found the scent incredibly pleasant.

However, one con about the liptick would be the packaging. I noticed the lipstick would move around in the tube, thus the packaging is not very secure in my opinion. I’m constantly worried that the lipstick would open up in my bag! *Yikes*

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick

Overall, I loved the new La Petite Robe Noire lipsticks and truly, Guerlain never disappoints. If you want a lipstick that is sheerer than the Rouge Gs, but more pigmented than the KissKiss Roselip, the La Petite Robe Noire lipsticks are for you! With 20 shades in this collection, there are shades for everyone. 🙂 This collection is permanent so you can take your time to choose which shades to get! Sadly, I was told by the Guerlain SA that the nail polishes in the collection will not be released in Singapore.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipsticks are now available at Sephora and TANGS Orchard.

Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion

Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion review 2016

Givenchy has rolled out their new Givenchy Teint Couture Cushion ($83 SGD) for 2016. Needless to say, I WAS EXCITED!

I have something to confess. I’m probably the last beauty blogger in the planet to jump onto the cushion bandwagon. I have never tried cushion foundations before (have tried cushion blushes though). Okay, I can hear your shocked gasps. I haven’t gotten the chance to try cushions as all the shades are either too dark, too pink or too yellow. With normal foundations I already struggle to find my perfect match. So, this being my first cushion foundation ever, I had high expectations. Especially since it was a brand like Givenchy!

Product description

Following on from the first Cushion foundations, that are impregnated into a foam cushion, Givenchy is revolutionising the process with the launch of a new generation compact: the metal Cushion foundation. Its metal plaque protects the formula from the air and delivers just the right amount of fluid foundation for fresh skin and a glowing finish.

With just one push, the 4G logo delivers the right amount of foundation. The contact with the cold metal delivers a fresh sensation on application: the skin is invigorated, revived and its radiance is restored. Inside the case, its supple and delicate applicator feels incredibly soft on the skin. The compact can be slipped easily into your bag. Always on hand for full complexion makeup or a quick touch-up, TEINT COUTURE CUSHION is by your side throughout the day to ensure a radiant and fresh complexion.

Givenchy TEINT Couture Cushion Portable Fluid Foundation review swatches

The cushion comes with six shades so it may be tricky finding the perfect shade. If you’re extremely fair like me (aka Nars Siberia, no foundation in MAC/Chanel/Dior matches you), you’re out of luck. I swatched the shade 1 Fresh Porcelaine and it was far too yellow toned. In the end, I decided that 2 Fresh Shell (more pink toned shade) was a better shade for me. 2 Fresh Shell was relatively light at first, but after oxidizing, it was equivalent to a MAC NW 15-20. As you can see, the cushion looks a far cry compared to my actual skin colour.

Givenchy teint couture cushion fresh shell swatches

The cushion is relatively lightweight and didn’t feel heavy on my face. It blended seamlessly with the texture of my skin. The coverage, though, is on the low side. This was expected as this cushion is meant to provide a sheer and natural finish. I find it covers the unevenness and the pores, but it doesn’t do much to cover redness. If you have acne or scars, this cushion will not cover your imperfections. It will, however, give your skin a really nice glow without looking greasy. Generally, most cushions are touted to give a glow and this Givenchy cushion is no exception. It gives my dry skin a glow without looking oily. If you have oily skin, I would recommend using a primer first to achieve the best results. In addition, I love how the metal plaque keeps the product fresh until I use it. Thumbs up!

Note that this cushion is not waterproof. I swatched it on the back of my hands and it immediately came out when I rinsed my hands. If you’re sensitive to fragrances, there’s a slight floral scent but that didn’t really bother me.

My only disappointment would be that the cushion left a stinging sensation my skin. I used the cushion without testing any other products so it was definitely not my skincare or anything else causing the reaction. I think my skin does not like an ingredient in the cushion. 🙁 Readers with sensitive skin like me, please do a patch test first!

Immediately after applying the cushion and taking photos for the blog, I quickly took my makeup off as the stinging was unbearable. Hence, I would not be able to fully review this product as I did not have it on for long.

Bottom Line: If you are looking for a cushion with a natural glowy finish that doesn’t make your face look cakey, this is the cushion for you! 🙂

Have you tried cushion foundations? Share with me your favourites in the comments! 🙂

Achieve beautiful lips like Song Hye-kyo from Descendants of the Sun

Like all Descendants of the Sun fans, I am sad that the show has come to an end. Before this show, I was not a Korean drama girl. But all my friends were watching the show so I decided to watch one episode to see what the hype was about. One episode led to another and before I knew it, I absolutely love the chemistry between Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo. They are both adorable together. 🙂 Throughout the show, Kang Mo-Yeon (played by Song Hye-kyo) has a natural lip colour. She is usually seen wearing a light pink or coral shade. As most of you would know, Song Hye-kyo is the brand ambassador for Laneige, hence, she uses Laneige products throughout the show. Namely the Laneige Two-tone lip bar and BB cushion.

Aren’t they the cutest couple, ever? #relationshipgoals

Song Hye-kyo Kang Mo Yeon lipstick
The lipstick she wears in the elevator scene in episode 1 is none other than the Laneige Two-tone lip bar in No. 11 Juicy Pop. Sadly, Juicy Pop is out of stock throughout Singapore! This reminds me of the time My Love from the Star fans rushed to buy the Cheon Song-yi lipstick aka YSL Rouge Pur Couture #52 Rosy Coral. That particular colour was said to be sold out all across Asia at that time.

Song Hye-kyo kang mo yeon lipstick episode 9
Remember the minefield scene in episode 9? The colour used in the above sign would be No. 14. Dear Pink. It’s a pretty combination of red and pink!

I wanted a colour similar to Juicy Pop and eventually settled on No. 6 Pink Step. I was told that Pink Step was selling out really quickly as well. I found that the Two-tone lip bars can be slightly sheer so the colour will change according to your natural lip colour. 😀 My natural lips have a naturally red tint so when I applied Pink Step, it looked almost reddish pink when I built the colour up. However, when worn sheerly, the center of my lips was a bright, medium pink with warm undertones which the outer ages was light peachy pink with warm undertones.

Here is Mo-Yeon/Hye-kyo wearing No. 6 Pink Step in episode 13! It looks like she wore it lightly.
Descendants of the sun mo yeon episode 13 lipstick

Laneige two-tone lip bar No. 6 Pink Step

laneige-two-tone-lipbar-pink-step3

I love how easy it is to achieve gradient lips with this lipstick. Not only is it creamy but it is also really comfortable to wear and easy to apply! I did notice that it emphasized my lip lines and flakes on my lips. I would recommend those with dry lips to exfoilate first and apply lip balm!

If you have been experiencing Descendants of the Sun withdrawal symptoms like I’ve been, perhaps it’s time to pop by the Laneige counter and be lipstick twinsies with Song Hye-kyo. And if my predictions are correct, this lipstick is going to sell out faster than the time it takes for Song Joong Ki to detonate a mine. Be prepared to go to the ends of the earth to find this lipstick. All the best ladies, Song Joong Ki will be proud. 😉

The best is yet to come with Philosophy’s Ultimate Miracle Worker range

What’s one of the most depressing words in the dictionary? “Ageing”. Yup. I’m not even 22 yet and I’ve started to notice fine lines under my eyes. Oh the horror! But I’m not panicking because Philosophy’s new Ultimate Miracle Worker range might be just the miracle I need. From emulsions to creams to serum-in-creams, this range has got me covered!

Philosophy Ultimate Miracle Worker range 2016

Our hectic lifestyles and exposure to environmental aggressions has caused our skin to age faster. As such, it’s crucial to start taking steps to delay the signs of ageing. I was recently given the opportunity to test out Philosophy’s Ultimate Miracle Worker range, and here are my thoughts. Please note that I did not receive any compensation for this review and none of the links in this post are affiliated links. So, I was beyond excited to try the products as I’m a big fan of Philosophy’s Hope In A Jar line. I must admit, as I’m still young and certainly not the age group this range is targeted at, so I may not be the best judge of this skincare range. Nevertheless, I put the products to the test and I’m very much in love with them.

Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Emulsion Broad Spectrum Spf 25

Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Emulsion Broad Spectrum Spf 25

The first being the Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Emulsion Broad Spectrum Spf 25 ($100 SGD). I found the emulsion to be more suitable for normal/oily skin skintypes as it’s extremely lightweight. If you are in an air-conditioned room every day or have dry skin, this might not be moisturizing enough for you. When applied on my skin, it was absorbed almost immediately and my skin was left without any greasy residue. I appreciate how the packaging comes with a pump, thus the product is not exposed to the air. It has a mild fragrance, like all the products in the Ultimate Miracle Worker range. The scent is nothing too overpowering and doesn’t linger for too long after application.

Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 25

Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 25

Next up, we have the Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi Rejuvenating Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 25 ($100 SGD) which I have been using in the mornings. It’s packaged in an old school glass jar, but I would have preferred if it came in a bottle packaging. Products in jars have a shorter life span as the ingredients don’t stay effective for long after the package is opened. This is the only downside I’ve to this product. This day cream works effectively at making my skin feel hydrated and makeup goes on easily on top. I love the light moisturizing effects of it. In addition, it contains SPF protection against a wide spectrum of UVA, UVB and infrared rays. Did you know that sitting in front of your computer can cause your skin to age as well??!! Yes, those nasty radiation from your computer can be damaging to your skin!

Ultimate Miracle Worker Eye Multi Rejuvenating Eye Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 15

Ultimate Miracle Worker Eye Multi Rejuvenating Eye Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 15

The Ultimate Miracle Worker Eye Multi Rejuvenating Eye Cream Broad Spectrum Spf 15 ($90 SGD) contains patented technology that targets lines, wrinkles and firmness, as well as dark circles and puffiness, while keeping the skin hydrated and protected from the sun rays. It’s my favourite eye cream of the moment and I love how it’s easily absorbed into the skin while simultaneously hydrating the eye area. It contains SPF 15 so I prefer to use this eye cream during the day. But as I always say, do not rely on your skincare to provide the SPF protection. Always always use a separate sunblock!

Ultimate Miracle Worker Night Multi-rejuvenating Nighttime Serum In Cream

Ultimate Miracle Worker Night Multi-rejuvenating Nighttime Serum In Cream

The Ultimate Miracle Worker Night Multi-rejuvenating Nighttime Serum In Cream ($120 SGD) is the best in the entire range. It combines the concentrated power of a serum with the nourishing benefits of a cream to create a youthful-looking appearance. The cream comes with the serum sealed in a packet as well as a spatula. It’s sealed to ensure maximum freshness of the pearl. 🙂

Ultimate Miracle Worker Night Multi-rejuvenating Nighttime Serum In Cream
When you are ready to use, simply open the sealed pearl packet and pour into the cream.

Stir and allow approximately 5 minutes for the pearls to melt. Then stir until fully mixed. Once the pearls are no longer visible, the cream is ready to be applied to a clean, dry face.

Ultimate Miracle Worker Night Multi-rejuvenating Nighttime Serum In Cream

I tried this serum in cream for two weeks in a row, applying it only at night, and I really liked the results. After using it, I wake up with my skin feeling more supple, smoother and more radiant. If you’ve oily skin, you may find this cream a little too rich so but my dry skin loves it! I have noticed that a little goes a long way so you won’t run out of this anytime soon. This product contains retinol so I’d exercise caution when using it, such as avoiding the sun when using retinol products. Well, good thing this is a night cream isn’t it?

Final Thoughts

Overall I was impressed with Philosophy’s Ultimate Miracle Worker range. While it’s on the pricey side, the products are super luxurious and effective, making your money worth while. I believe that with extended use of these products, I’ll have less wrinkles and fine lines! For those of you looking to start an anti-ageing regimen, this is a great introduction to the world of anti-ageing products. It’s always better to start taking good care of your skin early, your skin will thank you. 🙂

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 review

I live in a country that’s practically summer all year round so it’s extremely unlikely that I suffer from vitamin D deficiency. While getting some vitamin D is good, spending too much time in the sun can actually cause premature ageing! 🙁 Urban dwellers, such as myself, are exposed to heavier concentrations of pollutants. All the free radicals, secondhand smoke, staring at screens all day and exposure to UV rays play a huge role in damaging your skin.

Meet The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ ($34.90 SGD). It’s an all new sunscreen from The Body Shop which just launched in April.

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 PA++++

“When our skin is exposed to environmental aggressors it can become dehydrated, sensitive, prone to breakouts and over time show accelerated signs of ageing!”
Vanda Serrador, Facialist and Body Care Expert for The Body Shop

I’m a big believer of sunscreen and every morning I literally bathe in it. Just kidding! 😛 But on a serious note, I slather on sunscreen religiously every morning.

Now, the two main ingredients to protect against the sun would be Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (aka Octinoxate) and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (aka Avobenzone). This is an example of a chemical sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens use chemical UV filters and work by absorbing the sun’s rays while physical sunscreens use physical UV filters and protect your skin from the sun by deflecting or blocking the sun’s rays. Hence, I prefer physical sunscreens. Nevertheless the debate between physical vs chemical sunscreen has been around for ages, and you can Google about it at your leisure.

    Here are the ingredients:

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 review

The Body Shop’s Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 is completely vegetarian and formulated without parabens, mineral oils and paraffins. There’s a slight mild fragrance but it did not bother me as the fragrance doesn’t linger throughout the day.

It contains red algae extract and Vitamin C to brighten the skin. My dull skin definitely looked more radiant after applying this!

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 review

I love the formula of this sunscreen. Before I use it, I give it a good shake to ensure it’s well-mixed. It’s a lightweight milk-to-water formula that is thin, glides on easily over moisturizer, leaves a nice dewy finish! It sat beautifully under makeup, without balling up or causing the foundation to look cakey. The formula is not as runny as Japanese sunscreens, but still one of the least thick sunscreens I’ve encountered. Some sunscreens I’ve used previously required me to massage for at least 5 minutes to avoid any white casts or streaks.

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50

    Blended into the skin

One thing to note is that if you are going to be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time, remember to reapply your sunscreen frequently to ensure that your skin is being protected. 🙂

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 review

    Final Thoughts

Overall, this is a great sunscreen that is a good alternative to pricier formulas and perfect for daily wear under makeup. I really liked the formula and gentleness of the product but I would have preferred if it contained physical UV filters (such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide instead). If I wanted something quick to use, non-sticky and non-greasy, I would definitely reach for this! 🙂

The Body Shop Vitamin E range for all your skincare needs

I have another skincare review today and I’ll be reviewing The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Moisture Cream ($30.90 SGD) and the brand new Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion ($29.90 SGD). Vitamin E, as we all know is good for our health and it can be found in many types of food including vegetable oils, cereals, fruits, eggs, vegetables etc. Put Vitamin E in your skincare and you get antioxidants and hydration without having to eat the aforementioned food! HAHA. Kidding! Eat a well-balanced diet, yeah?

    Vitamin E Moisture Cream

    Product Description

Our lightweight, easily absorbed facial moisturiser protects and locks in moisture for all-day hydration, to leave skin feeling fresh, silky-soft and looking more radiant. Now formulated with vitamin E, plumping hyaluronic acid and wheatgerm oil, its moisturising effects can help ward off dryness. Use after cleansing and toning, as part of your personalised skincare programme.

The body shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream

    Vitamin E Moisture Cream

The Vitamin E Moisture Cream is a hydrating gel cream that is great for combination to oilier skin types as it non-greasy and leaves behind a non-sticky finish. Although it is stated on the jar that all skin types can use it, drier skin types will probably need a cream that is more rich. It has a mild cooling effect and my skin feels instantly calm and soothed. There is a strong fragrance upon initial application, but it slowly dissipates after a while.

My face certainly felt softer, more hydrated and supple. A little goes a long way so I won’t be running out of this anytime soon. With the weather getting increasingly hotter, it’s annoyingly difficult to keep my makeup on my face. Sometimes my heavy face cream doesn’t feel like it’s even being absorbed by my skin. It just sits there and any makeup on top of it looks like it’ll slide off any moment. Thankfully with this super lightweight cream, my complexion can look and feel fresh. This cream contains antioxidants as well, such as the wheatgerm oil which is a source of antioxidant vitamin E that helps protect the skin from moisture loss and free radicals.

Overall, this cream is not the cheapest out there but this cream is worth checking out if the price within your budget. I appreciate how this product gets absorbed by the skin instantly yet it moisturizes well.

The body shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion review

    Product Description

The first essential skincare step after cleansing, this lightweight, gellified formula instantly feels non-greasy and comfortable on the skin, whilst providing 48 hours of moisturisation.

  • Skin feels instantly replenished with moisture
  • Skin feels softer, smoother and more supple
  • Penetrates quickly with a non-sticky feel
  • Antioxidant properties protect against free radicals
  • Powered with Biofermented Hyaluronic Acid
  • The Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion is a new product from The Body Shop. It has a lightweight texture that is promptly absorbed by the skin. According to the instructions on the website, you are to pour a few drops into the palm of your hands and apply to the face every morning and evening. To be used after cleansing and toning, before your serum and moisturiser. For the best application, wait a few seconds until the essence lotion has fully absorbed into the skin. Also note that this is not suitable for use around the eyes.

Now, for those of you who are not familiar with essences, I’d say they are more lightweight and less concentrated than serums. I like to keep my skincare routine to the minimum because ain’t nobody got time to put seven products on the face every night. So usually if I’m using an essence, I will skip on serum and vice versa. Sometimes, the lines between essence and serums are blurred and the terms are used interchangeably. To me, I’ll just use what works best for me. 🙂

The body shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion
As you can see, the essence is incredibly watery. When I was taking the swatch of it, I made a mistake pouring it to the back of my hands. I should have poured it into the palm of my hands instead. To be honest, I did not see/feel a major difference in my skin after using this essence for a few weeks. There really wasn’t much noticeable improvements in skin tone or texture but I’ll continue using it and see if there is any difference.

If you are looking for a lightweight essence to add into your routine to provide antioxidants, moisture and one that contains Hyaluronic Acid, this is the essence for you!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Review

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Review

I have been a fan of the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer so when Tarte released a new concealer with the Rainforest of the Sea collection, I immediately ordered it off the Tarte website without swatching it in person. The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer ($26 USD) is said to be a “lightweight, 12-hour concealing serum with skin-soothing benefits that provides targeted, medium, buildable coverage.” I picked up the shade in “fair” which is the lightest shade in the range.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Review

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea™ Aquacealer Concealer from Sephora

The first day I tried the concealer, I wore it alone without foundation. It worked well at concealing redness on my face and definitely lived up to it’s medium and buildable claims. However, it didn’t quite conceal my dark circles and that could partly be because the shade is not light enough for me. More on that later.

The Aquacealer has a huge doe foot applicator that allows for easy application.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Review 2016

Here is a comparison between the Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer and Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in fair. The Aquacealer is definitely more runny compared to the Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. The Maracuja Creaseless Concealer is a full coverage concealer that has a thick consistency and feels heavy at times.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Maracuja concealer swatch

As you can see, when freshly applied, both the Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer and Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in fair are quite similar.

Unfortunately, after 15 minutes, the Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer oxidised until it was almost a shade darker! 🙁 It went from being the perfect match for me to something I couldn’t wear! 🙁 Arghhhhhhh!! Can you feel my frustration?!?!?

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Vs Maracuja concealer swatch

Apart from the oxidation, I must say, I love this concealer! This concealer achieves the barely there look beautifully as it has the right consistency. It’s neither too thick nor too runny yet concentrated enough to be lightweight, while still providing medium coverage. I noticed some reviewers mentioned this concealer smells like paint, and I agree. It doesn’t have a pleasant scent but fortunately, still bearable.

Just a little dab is enough to minimise the appearance of redness and dark circles. It layers beautifully, and melds like second skin. However, if you have extremely severe dark under eye circles, it may not totally cover them up. The Aquacealer settled a little into the fine lines under my eyes, but it wasn’t too noticeable. If you have dry skin, I recommend applying an eye cream under your eyes as this concealer can be a bit drying.

I’m happy to have purchased and tried the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer but if only it didn’t oxidise so badly… Hence I would recommend that you may want to use a slightly lighter shade than you otherwise would. For me, fair is already the lightest shade so I can’t go any lighter than that.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer Review
Overall, this concealer is one to consider if you want a medium coverage concealer. However, if you’d like a concealer with higher coverage, opt for the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer or the Maracuja Creaseless Concealer instead.

Shall end off this blog post with the beautiful view of pastel skies, cotton candy clouds and cable cars in the distance.

The Body Shop Pinita Colada collection 2016

This summer, The Body Shop brings a taste of the Caribbean to us in their newly launched Special Edition Piñita Colada collection. With a mix of pineapple and coconut, this is definitely one of the most delicious scents from TBS I’ve come across! Comprising of a scented Body Sorbet, Shower Gel, Body Butter and Body Scrub, this range is so fruity and sweet that you can practically taste this mouthwatering tropical blend!

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Shower Gel

    Piñita Colada Shower Gel

The Shower Gel ($12.90 SGD) is a delight to use in the shower. It smells fresh, juicy and sweet – a mouthwatering blend of pineapple and coconut. One whiff of it is enough to transport me to tropical paradise, if I closed my eyes I can picture myself sitting on the beach overlooking the gorgeous Caribbean sunset, drink on one hand, book in another. Being soap-free, this shower gel gentle enough that it will not leave your skin feeling tight or dry. The scent doesn’t linger long after you shower so I’d suggest pairing it with the Body Sorbet or the Body Butter.

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Sorbet
The body shop Pinita Colada Body Sorbet review

    Piñita Colada Body Sorbet

The Body Sorbet ($19.90 SGD) has a very lightweight fast-absorbing texture that I love. It absorbs almost instantly, and does not leave behind any sticky feeling. The only tiny problem I have with this would be that it might not be moisturizing enough for some people. It’s perfect for the summer but if you’re going to a cold climate, this is not going to work for you.

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Scrub
The Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Scrub

    Piñita Colada Body Scrub

My favourite from the range would be the Body Scrub ($36.90 SGD) which contains real shredded coconut to gently exfoliate the skin. Since it’s summer, it’s time to take out your bikini and flaunt those legs. But first, exfoliate and get rid of the dead cells. This scrub leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, plus it’s not too harsh on the skin! I think I’ve found my new favourite scrub!

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Butter

    Piñita Colada Body Butter

There’s also the Body Butter ($30.90 SGD) for all your moisturizing needs. This rich cream is said to provide 24 hours intense hydration. While I didn’t have it on for 24 hours, I would say it was very hydrating when I use it throughout a normal 12 hour day. I like to put it on immediately after I shower. Moreover, when we exfoliate, it could potentially strip away the skin’s protective barrier of natural oils. Applying a moisturizer to your skin can help to replenish that natural barrier. 🙂

    Final Thoughts

The Body Shop has nailed it with this range! Sweet-smelling Body Scrubs and Shower Gels for a pleasant shower experience and pair them with the Body Sorbet and Body Butter to make it an extravagant spa day in the comfort of your own home. Bring on the summer!

The Body Shop’s Piñita Colada collection is now available at The Body Shop stores islandwide. 🙂 #THEBODYSHOPSG and #SUMMEROFLOVE on Instagram.

    Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! 🙂

I can’t believe half a year is gone now! Today I’m hosting my first blog giveaway and you get a chance to win the Toy Moschino perfume. It’s not a bear, it’s a perfume! If you love citrus, floral scents, this is a scent you will love.

    Toy Moschino perfume giveaway!

    About the perfume

Designer Jeremy Scott became the creative director of Moschino in 2013. Fun fashion collections that he has done for this house were inspired by fast food, pop culture, Sponge Bob cartoons and the Barbie doll.

Moschino Toy comes in an unusual bottle that looks like a teddy bear who is wearing a T-shirt saying “THIS IS NOT A MOSCHINO TOY.” The bottle is inside the teddy bear and diffuser is revealed when you take off the bear’s head.

The scent is unisex, light citrusy-floral-woody. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, juniper berries and cardamom; with violet, aromatic tones of lavender and hawthorn petals in the heart, and cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and musk in the base.

    Benefit Cosmetics Dandelion Dew Review

    Benefit Cosmetics Dandelion Dew Review

Recently I have been looking to try more cream/liquid blushes and so, on a recent Sephora trip, I discovered Dandelion Dew ($49 SGD) by Benefit! It’s the liquid version of Benefit’s ever so popular Dandelion powder blush. 🙂 I’m happy to report that it smells exactly like the powder version! The fragrance is light and will dissipate after a while. 🙂

Dandelion Dew is a beautiful pink shade that complements my fair skin. On the website, it’s described as a “soft baby-pink shade“. On my fair skin, it looks like a bright Barbie pink. As it has a sheer finish, medium to deep complexions will most likely need to apply a few layers for it to show up well or layer it with the original powder blush. If you’ve fair skin, you can get away with one light layer. The texture is creamy, yet not thick, and easy to blend.

My favourite methods of applying it would be using a Beauty Blender or the 13rushes Angled Flat Foundation Brush. I pump Dandelion Dew directly onto the Beauty Blender, gently dabbing it on the skin. The Beauty Blender blends it in seamlessly, leaving behind a streak-free finish.

Dandelion Dew gives me a natural, radiant, glowing from within look. It gives just the right amount of colour needed to brighten my face. I foresee myself reaching for this whenever my face is looking dull and tired. In addition, I love how it stays on for hours, much longer wear-time compared to a powder blush. Usually my powder blushes start fading after 6 hour but Dandelion Dew was still looking good after the 11 hours. Also, you know how some powder blushes contain shimmer which emphasize pores? Thankfully, Dandelion Dew is completely matte, so you don’t have to worry about the pores being emphasized.

Here is a photo of myself wearing Dandelion Dew! I applied a light layer so it’s not very noticeable on camera. If you ask me, this is perfect blush to achieve the natural Korean look!

Benefit Dandelion Dew Review and Swatches

All in all, Dandelion Dew works nicely as a liquid blush and will give you a fresh, dewy look. I love the bright green packaging; it makes my bottle instantly stand out among all my makeup. For $49 SGD, I’ll say it is well worth the price!

Benefit’s Dandelion Dew is now available at Sephora.

I have never been to Italy but I’m thrilled that we can get Italian beauty products right here in Singapore! 🙂 Bottega Verde originated as an herbalist’s shop in 1972 in Pienza, Italy, in the region of Tuscany. I’m so excited to learn that their wonderful Italian products are now available in our sunny shores at Suntec City and Waterway Point!

Bottega Verde pride themselves in using only quality natural active ingredients, carefully selected from their areas of origin in order to preserve their effectiveness. You can find a huge variety of products for the face, body and hair products — the best part? The prices won’t break the bank! I’ll be sharing several products I’ve been loving on the blog today.

    Bottega Verde lei perfume 2016

    Lei by Bottega Verde

This fragrance has a unique combination of many notes which appealed to me immediately. It starts off with a burst of citrus fruits followed by floral notes of rose and jasmine before settling down into a musky vanilla base. This scent is perfect for a date night with your boyfriend. Trust me, this perfume will cause heads to turn when you step into the room. It’s feminine, creamy and dare I say, intoxicating. Definitely a sexy and seductive scent. 😉

Head Notes: Brazilian Orange, Calabrian Bergamot, Californian Grapefruit. Heart Notes: English Rose, Sambac Jasmine, Ligurian Mimosa, Lychee Flesh. Base Notes: Indonesian Patchouli, Javan Vetiver, Madagascar Vanilla, White Musk

The fragrance is housed in a clear white cube with a square cap. It’s a beautiful packaging but my only gripe is that the cap is rather sharp and you’ve to be careful when handling this perfume, lest you cut yourself. As you can see, the bottle is so photogenic that I couldn’t help but take many photos of it. 😉

Also, this perfume is very strong so don’t go overboard with it! To me, just two sprays on each wrist is enough!

Ialuron Plus – Anti-wrinkle eye cream

Ialuron Plus – Anti-wrinkle eye cream

I’m always on a hunt for a good eye cream and I look for something that would banish those pesky fine lines while also keeping the skin moisturized. This cream was an answer to my prayers. It contains Hyaluronic Acid which can improve your skin’s moisture content thus strengthening your skin’s barrier. As it contains SPF 15, I only applied the eye cream in the morning. This cream has a rich and thick texture which was very moisturizing. Moreover, as the skin under my eyes are usually very dry, this helped to prep my skin before concealer. 🙂

    Bottega Verde Argan Shampoo

    Argan Shampoo

This shampoo is for those of you who have damaged hair! I have dry and fragile hair so the ingredients in this shampoo (argan oil, hydrolyzed wheat protein, panthenol and grape sugar) were incredibly beneficial to my hair. I did some research and found out that panthenol has the ability to regulate moisture content while increasing resistance to damage and brittleness, making it an excellent moisturising ingredient. The shampoo is gentle enough to be use every day, and you don’t have to worry about buildup. However, this is not the shampoo to reach for if you’re looking for something to deep cleanse your hair with.

    Argan hair mask bottega verde

Argan Mask with Argan Butter and Oil

I apply this on the ends of my hair and leave it on for 5-10 minutes in the shower. My dry hair practically drinks in this mask. It’s just so hydrating! After washing away, my hair feels instantly softer and looked a lot less unruly. A little goes a long way with this hair mask, so you won’t run out of it anytime soon! Overall, this product is a great addition to my weekly hair routine. 🙂

Bottega Verde Heat Shield Serum with Argan Oil

Heat Shield Serum with Argan Oil

I apply the Heat Shield Serum to my ends before styling or blow-drying my hair. I love how this did not weigh my hair down the slightest bit nor did it give a greasy look. The entire argan range smells the same so you can expect this to smell just like the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask. It’s not too overpowering and the scent slowly disappears after a while. The serum itself is relatively quick absorbing. If you don’t use heat protectants for your hair, I really urge you to give this one a go. It’s important for us to protect our hair from the heat, especially if you are like me and use the hair dryer very frequently. This serum is suitable for all types of hair, but more so for dry and treated hair.

    Final Thoughts

I love how Bottega Verde carries a huge range of products, from hair care to skin care and even makeup! Yes! They sell foundation, eyeshadows, eyeliners and lipsticks as well. As a student, this brand is pretty affordable for the wallet so I can indulge myself without spending a ton.

Till the next post! Ciao bellas!
